ARTS AROUND THE SOUND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Now playing: "The Thin Place" at ACT Seattle

Currently on stage at Seattle’s A Contemporary Theater (or ACT) it’s “The Thin Place” a spine-tingling and mesmerizing new play by Obie Award-winner Lucas Hnath.  The show runs through April 10th and tickets can be had at ACTTHEATRE.ORG.  Simply told and wonderfully acted, “The Thin Place” draws the audience in and doesn’t let go.  Read Greg's review here.

There's "Something Rotten" at BCT

Opening tonight at Bremerton Community Theater, it's musical comedy "Something Rotten".  This show follows the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, who struggle to find success in the theatrical world as they compete with the wild popularity of their contemporary - the bard himself - Bill Shakespeare.  The show runs through May 1st and you can find tickets and more info at BCTSHOWS.COM 

"Cemetery Club" Auditions at BCT

Coming up Sunday and Monday, April 10 & 11 from 6 – 9pm, auditions will be held for the comedy "Cemetery Club", playing June 3 – 26, 2022.  Written by Ivan Menchell, and directed by our good friend Jeffrey Bassett, "The Cemetery Club" is a heartwarming story about three Jewish widows coping with love, loss, and romance.  (The Broadway production starred Eileen Heckart as Lucille and Cemetery Club was made into a film in 1993, starring Ellen Burstyn, Dianne Ladd, and Olympia Dukkakis.)  More info on BCT's audition page.

Youth Summer Camps Return to WWCA

WWCA's newly appointed Acting Artistic Director Rebecca Ewen will be holding two youth musical theater camps this summer.  For campers ages 5-13, it’s “Winnie the Pooh Kids”, and for campers ages 13-18, “‘Legally Blonde Jr.”  For dates and more info keep visit the Classes and Workshops page at WWCA.US and their Facebook page.

Scott is senior director of Original Productions at Turner Classic Movies. He is also a programmer for TCM’s annual film festival and the lead programmer for the TCM Classic Cruise, and has been a presenter at many of TCM’s past festivals and other industry conventions.  Scott is also the author of “Danger on the Silver Screen: 50 Films Celebrating Cinema’s Greatest Stunts''.  His book from TCM and Running Press is a heart-racing look into the world of stunt work featuring films that capture the exhilaration of a car chase, the comedy of a well timed pratfall, or the adrenaline rush from a fight scene complete with reviews, behind-the-scenes stories, and hundreds of photographs.  You can follow him on Twitter at @JScottMcGee and find the book on Amazon and Target.com.  Scott joined us from his home in Marietta, GA.
